LISA CRAWFORD

Dr. Crawford is thrilled to be teaching composition for Los Angeles County High School for the Arts! Crawford currently serves as the Chair of the Composition Council for National Association for Music Education and is President of College Music Society Southwest Chapter. Early career Crawford composed for film and television projects and served as head of production for several studios. Crawford has founded the International Alliance for Young Composers and Songwriters and is part of Palmer Research Group focused toward culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy. Dr. Crawford is writing a textbook, Beginning with Composition, expected in 2024, and is published by Routledge with a chapter in the Oxford Handbook of Music Composition Pedagogy, and is co-author of articles and book chapters. Crawford holds a Bachelor’s degree in composition, M.M., Music Education, M.Ed., Curriculum & Instruction, and Doctorate in Music Education with minors in Choral Music and Conducting, Statistics, and Composition and Music Theory.
